MPRC Annual Elections Meeting

Please join us on Thursday, May 26th for our annual meeting for our yearly elections, and the latest updates on our goal of working to save the last 2% of Miami's Pine Rocklands from developer's bulldozers.

We'll also detail our latest formal application to place some 40 acres of critical habitat and buffer lands to Miami Dade's Environmentally Endangered Lands program for Preservation and Restoration.
Today, much of it is still targeted for Theme Park Development and is being actively degraded by Miami Dade County as a construction staging site and solid waste dump.

All Members whove paid their dues are eligible to vote and hold office.

If you want to be part of the Miami Pine Rocklands decision-making process and help choose our future direction, PLEASE apply now and consider one of our affordable membership plans starting at just $20.00.

Applications and payment can be processed at our website:  http://www.miamipinerocklandscoalition.org/Join.html

Voting members will be emailed a ballot if they cant personally attend our Annual Meeting at the Doc Thomas House, Tropical Audubon Society, 5530 Sunset Drive, South Miami.
Parking is available in the rear parking lot which is accessible off SW 55th Avenue off Sunset Drive.

Ballots will contain our Boards recommended candidates for President, Vice-President, At Large Member, Treasurer and Corporate Secretary/ Communications Director.

Secretary Zac Cosner is stepping down from the Board to concentrate on pursuing his degree at the University of Miami. We Thank Him for his service and dedication to the group.

Current Vice-president Belen Valladares is stepping down from her current position to run as Member at Large.

Current Member at Large, Cully Waggoner, has agreed to run as Vice-President to expand his responsibilities which included our Financial Managment.

But hell be getting some formal help from Carmen Ferreiro, whos agreed to run as Treasurer.

Rounding out the ticket, Denise Dunn Glass has agreed to run as Communications Director/ Corporate Secretary.

I have agreed to run again for President and continue to lead this effort to Save The Pine Rocklands if the group chooses. But I also welcome any write-in candidates for the position.

According to our By Laws, any proposed candidates must agree to serve in the position theyll be running for if elected. So if you have any write-in candidates, make sure they are willing to commit themselves to
the time required to serve on the Board.

If you don't want to run for a formal Board Position, we still have room for you to volunteer for our various committees, and be considered for our Advisory Board.

Our battle to save the last 2% of Americas' Pine Rocklands is in your hands. They are found nowhere else in the continental United States but right here in South Florida.

We are fighting more than a Billion Dollars in proposed Development in the largest Pine Rocklands Habitat outside of Everglades National Park.

It can be an oasis for rare and endangered plants and animals or just another Urban Mall/High Density Housing Project/Theme Park spawning more traffic/carbon emissions, urban congestion and paved over watershed.

What Natural Wonders like the Pine Rocklands will be past down to future generations is in our hands.

Save it, Don't pave it.
